FBI blames North Korea for record $6.3bn crypto theft from Binance
The FBI tied the theft to North Korea's "TraderTraitor" group; Binance covered 90% of the losses and resumed withdrawals.

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said North Korean hackers stole $6.3 billion in cryptocurrency from Binance, the world's largest crypto exchange — one of the largest thefts in crypto history.
Who is responsible
The FBI attributed the theft to North Korean cyber activity it calls "TraderTraitor." The same group was blamed for stealing $1.5 billion from the Bybit platform last year. The FBI said the hackers converted the stolen assets into Ethereum and urged crypto firms to block wallet addresses tied to the theft.
How the exchange covered the loss
Binance said it had replaced 90% of the stolen amount by using company money to buy new tokens. After the hack, the exchange temporarily suspended customer withdrawals and then resumed them on Sunday.
FBI statement
The theft was tied to malicious cyber activity by an entity known as TraderTraitor.
