Mirziyoyev proposes a Central Asian critical minerals alliance
At the 8th Consultative Meeting in Avaza, the President of Uzbekistan proposed accelerating a regional alliance on critical minerals and creating a unified digital map of reserves.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed accelerating the creation of an alliance of Central Asian countries on critical minerals.
The proposal was made on 8 October 2026 at the 8th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan, held in the Avaza zone of Turkmenistan. Six heads of state took part; a Joint Statement and a decision on the format's regulatory documents were adopted.
A unified digital map
As a first practical step, Mirziyoyev proposed creating a unified digital map of Central Asia's critical mineral reserves. He said it would present the region's overall potential and show international investors that the countries are ready to develop this field together.
Economic integration proposals
The president proposed forming joint industrial and technological chains, a Platform for Financial and Technical Support for Joint Investment Projects, and an Infrastructure Development Council. He also put forward a 'six economies — one product' formula.
Mirziyoyev also proposed developing a joint concept for the low-carbon energy potential of the region and Azerbaijan, to coordinate new generation capacity, energy-storage systems and new energy corridors.
The proposals were presented as initiatives, without financial figures or binding timelines.
