At the UN, Saida Mirziyoyeva Says Uzbekistan's Choice Is Human Dignity

The head of Uzbekistan's Presidential Administration, Saida Mirziyoyeva, addressed the general debate of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly on behalf of Uzbekistan. She spoke in Uzbek in New York on 23 September 2026.

"Our choice is human dignity"

Mirziyoyeva placed human dignity at the center of the speech, saying a country's strength is determined by how well it can protect people's rights, freedoms and dignity. Amid wars, geopolitical tension and declining trust, she said, Uzbekistan is relying on openness, good-neighborliness and dialogue.

According to the speech, the economy has grown from $50 billion to $147 billion, and $150 billion in foreign investment has been attracted. The poverty rate has fallen to 4%, and 10 million people have been lifted out of poverty in recent years.

Women, labor and AI

Mirziyoyeva said women hold 39% of seats in parliament, that child and systemic forced labor have been eliminated, and that accountability for domestic violence has been strengthened. She called for artificial intelligence to be developed with human-rights safeguards and accountability, and cited the Aral Sea disaster as a consequence of flawed policy.

Who she is

Saida Mirziyoyeva is the daughter of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. She was appointed head of the Presidential Administration in June 2025 and also leads the planned Tashkent International Financial Centre.
