US Special Envoy for Global Partnerships Paolo Zampolli — a personal friend of President Donald Trump — told Uzbek media during a visit to Tashkent that Trump intends to visit Uzbekistan. According to Zampolli, a warm and trusting relationship has formed between Trump and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the two speak regularly by telephone.

No firm date for the visit has been set. Zampolli stressed that Trump's schedule is extremely busy, but said the president nonetheless wants to come to Uzbekistan.

Saida Mirziyoyeva met Trump in Washington

On October 2, 2026, the head of the Presidential Administration, Saida Mirziyoyeva, met Donald Trump in Washington and conveyed the best wishes of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. She called the meeting a great honor in a social-media post. Mirziyoyeva also co-chairs the American-Uzbek Business and Investment Council; during her US trip she held talks with the WTO director-general on Uzbekistan's accession and, in New York, with BlackRock executives on establishing the Tashkent International Financial Centre.

Mid-October: a delegation led by Rubio

In mid-October, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will lead a historic business delegation of more than 100 American companies to Samarkand. During the visit, Rubio will take part in the C5+1 Ministerial alongside the foreign ministers of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Over the past 18 months, the US administration has expanded ties with Central Asia, prioritizing access to the region's strategic and critical mineral resources.

By the numbers

In 2025, US trade in goods and services with Uzbekistan reached an estimated $1.7 billion — up 67.6 percent from 2024. Between 2017 and 2025, trade turnover grew 4.7 times, from $215 million to $1 billion. The volume of US foreign direct investment and loans rose almost 64 times, from $8.6 million in 2017 to $383.2 million in 2025. At a White House meeting in November 2025, the two countries signed $34.5 billion in economic and trade agreements.

An early harvest and a $100 billion plan

In June 2026, the US and Uzbekistan reached an 'early harvest' on trade and agreed to accelerate talks toward a reciprocal trade and investment agreement. Cooperation spans energy, critical minerals and mining, infrastructure, finance, artificial intelligence and digital technologies. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev had previously outlined a potential $100 billion investment agenda with the US over the coming decade.

For now the claim about a visit rests on a secondary source — Trump's friend and special envoy — with no official confirmation or firm date announced by the White House or Uzbekistan's Presidential Administration.
