Drone strikes on Russia's Yandex data centers disrupt online services in Uzbekistan
On 11 October, Ukrainian drones struck a Yandex data center in Vladimir; as a result, Yandex Go and several services were down for hours in Uzbekistan. It was the third such strike in four days.

Drone strikes on Yandex data centers in Russia caused a range of online services to fail in Uzbekistan on 11 October. Users of the Yandex Go taxi and delivery app experienced outages lasting several hours.
What happened
On the morning of 11 October, Ukrainian drones struck a Yandex data center in Vladimir, Russia. According to the company, operations at the center were completely suspended; it is one of Yandex's largest data centers, with a designed capacity of about 56 megawatts.
It was the third strike on Yandex's network in four days: on 8 October a center in Sasovo, Ryazan region (home to Yandex's «Lyapunov» and «Chervonenkis» supercomputers) was hit, and on 9 October a center in the Kaluga region. The Vladimir outage knocked out more than 80 Yandex services.
The impact in Uzbekistan
In the Yandex Go app, users trying to order a taxi could not see fares and could not place orders. The app's «Public Transport» section also failed to display bus movements. At the same time, Yandex Maps and Navigator continued to work without interruption.
Earlier, after the 8 October strike on the Sasovo center, Uzbekistan's largest marketplace Uzum Market was also disrupted, with problems reported in seller accounts, order pickup points and warehouses. The service was restored by the morning of 10 October.
Regional impact
The disruptions were also felt in neighboring Kazakhstan. Yandex Uzbekistan noted that because its infrastructure is distributed across several countries, a failure in one component may affect the availability of certain functions in another region.
«Unfortunately, some services may currently experience errors or be temporarily unavailable», Yandex Uzbekistan said in a statement, adding that it was working to restore services.
