President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Karshi State University during a working trip to the Kashkadarya region. According to the Presidential Press Service, the head of state reviewed the university's educational facilities, research laboratories, language centres and student services.
Students and faculty
The university has more than 14,000 students across bachelor's and master's programmes (full-time, part-time and distance), with a teaching staff of 579.
Dormitories and facilities
As part of last year's large-scale construction, three new dormitories added more than 1,300 places — said to have fully met housing demand. The campus also includes a 240-place kindergarten, a library, canteens, a youth centre and a 1,000-capacity media studio.
Accreditation and joint programmes
Four of the university's fields — English Philology, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Physics — hold international accreditation. The university runs 14 joint educational programmes with universities in Russia and Belarus, and operates five language centres (Chinese, German, French, English, Russian).
Research laboratories
The university has established an International Laboratories Center combining seven laboratories focused on artificial intelligence, machine learning and robotics. The visit is part of Uzbekistan's ongoing higher-education reform — expanding capacity, aligning programmes with international standards and strengthening STEM research.
