Uzbekistan introduces new benefits for doctors: mortgage help and remote-area allowances
At a meeting with medical and pharmaceutical workers, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced housing support, higher allowances for doctors in remote areas, and a drive to recruit Uzbek doctors with foreign clinical experience.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced new measures to support healthcare workers at a meeting with professionals from the medical and pharmaceutical sectors. They include housing support, incentives for doctors in remote areas, recruitment of specialists with foreign clinical experience, and a reform of professional medical associations.
Housing support for young doctors
Each year, 25% of the mortgage down payment will be covered for 500 young medical professionals. In addition, UZS 50bn (over $4.1mn) has been allocated to subsidize part of the mortgage loans of medical personnel who have worked in the system for at least 15 years; 1,000 of them will move into new homes in 2027.
Doctors in remote areas
Starting in 2027, the monthly supplementary allowance for all doctors working in remote areas will rise from UZS 2mn (over $160) to UZS 4.5mn (over $375). Doctors taking up posts in remote areas will also receive a one-time incentive of UZS 50mn (over $4,100).
Doctors with foreign experience
Uzbek doctors who have gained experience in foreign clinics will be recruited to 26 specialized medical centers. Each center's director will recruit five to ten compatriot doctors in 2027. Recruited specialists will receive monthly salary supplements of up to UZS 50mn (over $4,100), modern equipment, the right to form their own teams, and coverage of expenses for attending prestigious conferences abroad.
Reform of medical associations
Mirziyoyev criticized some professional associations for a lack of renewal, noting that the same people had led them for many years. Under the new system, association leaders will be elected by members for a maximum term of two to three years.
The president's words
At the meeting, the president cited the Jadid scholar Abdurauf Fitrat: "Every field that serves humanity is sacred, but the field that serves human health is even greater." Dollar equivalents are as reported by Daryo.
