Egypt postpones stricter entry rules for Uzbek citizens until March 2027
After talks led by Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry, Egypt delayed tighter Sinai entry rules until 1 March 2027; until then Uzbeks can visit Sharm el-Sheikh visa-free.

Egypt has postponed tightening entry rules for citizens of Uzbekistan until 1 March 2027. Until then, Uzbeks can visit Sharm el-Sheikh and other parts of the Sinai Peninsula without a visa, Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
What the rules involved
The stricter rules had originally been expected to take effect on 1 November 2026. Under the announced requirements, travelers would have needed an advance visa to visit Sharm el-Sheikh and other areas of the Sinai Peninsula and would have had to arrange trips through tour operators. Additional conditions for tourists under 40 included travelling with family members and showing proof of sufficient funds.
How the delay was secured
The postponement was achieved through negotiations conducted by Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry and its embassy in Egypt with the Egyptian authorities. According to regional reports, the new requirements had earlier led to mass cancellations of tours among Central Asian travelers.
Official statement
According to Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry, an agreement was reached, through diplomatic efforts and direct negotiations with Egypt, to reconsider the previously adopted decision to tighten entry rules.
