Uzbekistan to host the 2027 U-20 World Cup: Mirziyoyev meets Infantino
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and FIFA President Gianni Infantino discussed the Uzbekistan–Azerbaijan U-20 World Cup and opening a regional FIFA office in Tashkent.

On September 30, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Tashkent. The meeting's main focus was hosting the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
What was agreed
Under a FIFA Council decision, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan will co-host the finals of the 2027 U-20 World Cup. The sides discussed accelerating the opening of a regional FIFA office in Tashkent, and broadening cooperation in football management, support for young talent, and international-level training for coaches, referees, managers, sports doctors and technical specialists.
FIFA Arena and the stadium
During the visit Infantino inaugurated Uzbekistan's first FIFA Arena mini-pitch at Secondary School No. 90 and toured the Dustlik National Training Center and the 55,000-capacity New Tashkent Central Football Stadium — one of the venues for the 2027 U-20 World Cup.
After the visit Infantino said, "I was honoured to meet with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev."
