On 10 October 2026, a ballistic missile — attributed to the Houthis — struck King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. At least 12 people were killed and more than 300 wounded.
According to Reuters and Al Jazeera, it was the deadliest attack on the kingdom in more than a decade. Airport operations were suspended, hundreds of flights were cancelled, and several airlines cut service to Saudi Arabia. It was the third such attack in a week.
Victims from several countries
The dead included four Saudis, two Bangladeshis, and one citizen each from the United States, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan and Egypt.
Uzbekistan's statement
The Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan strongly condemned the attack: 'Attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure constitute a serious violation of international law and must cease immediately,' it said.
The ministry extended its heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, affirmed its support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and called on all parties to exercise restraint and resolve differences diplomatically.
