Telegram leads news use in Uzbekistan, but television stays the most trusted
A national survey found 51.6% of people get news from Telegram, with TV second at 44.6%. On trust, however, television (44.3%) is far ahead of Telegram (11.3%).

Telegram channels are Uzbekistan's most widely used news source, but television remains the most trusted, according to a national media-consumption survey presented in Tashkent on November 2, 2026.
The most used
The survey found that 51.6% of respondents use Telegram channels for news. Television came second at 44.6%, and social media third at 41.6%. Digital sources thus lead the public's day-to-day news consumption.
Trust tells a different story
Despite high usage, the trust picture is reversed. Television was the most trusted source for 44.3% of respondents; Telegram channels were trusted by 11.3% and news websites by just 7.4%. In other words, the source people use most is not the source they trust most.
A generational divide
Among those aged 18–24, 66.2% use Telegram channels for news. Respondents over 55, by contrast, remain loyal to television (77.4%) and the print press — a sharp digital divide between age groups.
How the survey was done
Interviewers spoke face-to-face with 1,411 adults at their homes across all 14 regions of the country from September 8 to 19, 2026. The results were presented publicly in Tashkent.
